I began working on my series of text based artwork, called Visual Poems, during an art residency in Cambodia. Based on the idea of the "found poem" popularized by Surrealist writers and painters in the early 20th century I primarily use pages from science books as source material. A simple word or a phrase can transport me to another world.
“Poetry is the journal of the sea animal living on land, wanting to fly in the air. Poetry is a search for syllables to shoot at the barriers of the unknown and the unknowable. Poetry is a phantom script telling how rainbows are made and why they go away.” — Carl Sandburg
